"julie was raised to be a victim in a murder cult, but a car accident changes her fate. as she finds herself alone in the middle of the road, she starts to find out there is a world outside being born to die. however, strange encounters begin to corrupt her already fragile and distorted frame of mind.... she is curious, morbid without meaning it and speaks in whisphers. is surprisingly brave but very easily manipulated. is always seeking out someone who would want to murder her, as she was taught to believe it is her purpose on this world to be a victim."
Currently a great enigma to the series, Julie is a pawn of Fundação Mariposa[1]'s practices and plays the role of the victim in their cult, evident by her attire of a black top and red shorts[2]. She was surrendered to the foundation at a very young age (specifically in 1994, so Julie was about five years old at the time) by her parents believing her to be beyond saving, calling her a "trouble child" and claiming she causes them "nothing but misery". This is shown in her flashback in Episode 2, where the Fundação Mariposa sigil can be seen on the caregiver's ring and jacket lapel[3]. Her mental state has been heavily warped by being raised in the cult, and as a result seems to be very childish and naive. However, this whimsical nature of hers is not intentional on her behalf, as she is said to "just [see] the world in a different way", and to be "working to analyse a world new to her; one she had never been part of."[4]. She frequently talks of "being killed" and "picking up the sacred ritual", again suggesting her nature as a victim in Fundação Mariposa. The only character she has any relation to aside from her parents is Peteca[5], that of which is a friendship where she calls them her "most respected companion". As of now, it is unknown where this bond leads or what becomes of it.
